We tested our digital kitchen timer in a 1100 sq ft home and found you can hear the alarm in any of the rooms even with the doors closed (was very muffled but you could hear it). So if you are in the living or dinning room adjacent to the the kitchen it will be loud enough to hear. Alarm sounds and flashes numbers for 30 seconds.
