Third-party sellers are independent sellers on the Amazon marketplace who
offer a variety of new, used, refurbished, and collectible merchandise.
They could be a well known chain, or a small shop / warehouse,
or even someone who is operating out of their garage.
Third party's are responsible for almost half of everything sold on Amazon.
As an example, Pricechirp sells a small number of items on Amazon.
If you visit the link, you will notice the line "Ships from and sold by Supplies by PriceChirp."
Any product offer on amazon that does not say "sold by Amazon", is a third party.
On Pricechirp, the priced listed under third party is the current best price by a third party selling the product in the "new" condition.

The most common reason for this is we are tracking the wrong ASIN for the product. It could be
the item has changed ASINs, which happens when multiple merchants put the item on Amazon which
are later consolidated into a single ASIN. Alternatively, If the item
being tracked comes
in different varieties, such as colors or sizes, each combination of color and size will have
it's own ASIN for tracking purposes. Often, Amazon will assign a generic catch all ASIN to
the product that points to all sizes / colors at once. However, these ASIN were created
to help organize the products online and
there is no pricing information associated with them. In this case, we need to determine the
ASIN for the size / color of the product you are interested in. An easy way to do this is to
add the product to your shopping cart. From here, you should be able to find the correct ASIN
to track.
Finally, there a handful of items for which Amazon does not provide pricing information.
-
Currently the tools used to bulk load ASINs into your tracking list are not available to
the public. However, if you have a large list of items you would like for us to load for you,
feel free to use the contact form.

The Amazon Standard Identification Number (ASIN) is a 10-character unique identifier used
by Amazon for product identification. If you get a message about PriceChirp
not being able to track an ASIN, it can be for several reason. The most common reasons
are: Amazon no longer carries the product, the product has changed ASIN numbers, or
Amazon no longer provides information on this product via their "Product Advertising API".
By clicking through to the product on Amazon, you should be able to determine the issue.
If you get a 404 error, the product is no longer being sold. If you get a product page,
but the ASIN number in the URL does not match the ASIN number in the product details,
this means the ASIN number has changed. Simply copy the new ASIN number over to PriceChirp
to start tracking again. And in the case where the ASIN number is correct, it means the
manufacture of the product has requested Amazon not make their products available via
the Product Advertising API. PriceChirp will resume tracking items when / if Amazon
restores them to the API. You can also get more details on the PriceChirp Item page
in the "Product Information" section while logged in.
