Apparently, when I wasn't looking, I got old. It started innocently enough: gardening, needing bifocal lenses to read small print, caring if I ate enough bran. Then the birds.
I got a really nice bird feeder (also on Amazon Perky-Pet 363 Birds and Berries Lantern Feeder)and wanted to hang it outside of our bedroom window so I could watch the birds during the day. So I started looking for a sturdy bracket/hanger that could hold the bird feeder, the feed AND the birds (and possibly a rogue squirrel or chimpmunk). After a bit of searching, I came across this one and decided to give it a try.
It was very simple to install on our aluminum siding house and is just the right size for the bird feeder. It puts the feeder far enough from the window that I can see the birds but not so far that I can't reach it to refill it. Which is pretty much every day because, as you will learn once you become "old", birds don't just sit daintily nibbling on their seeds that you so carefully place in the feeder for them.
They THROW it at the window, all over the ground below, all in search of the "perfect" seed that they want, without any regard to the other birds or the aesthetics of the area. Rude. But the good thing is, the squirrels can only stare at it with angry-eyes from a nearby tree because, try as they might (and they do try), they can't reach the feeder.
So, what you really want to know is: would I recommend this? Yes. While it's not sold as a bird feeder hanger, it works fine (I secured the wire holding the feeder with a plastic coated twisty-tie because I live in a state that has seasons and some of those seasons include thunderstorms and snow storms which = wind. Heck, I might even buy a few more for its intended use, to hang plants. Because us old people garden too.
