It does a great job, but can depend on window type and other factors - but I am super sensitive to light!

- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 20 September 2014I recently purchased two of these blackout blinds as a couple of months ago with the very light nights and light early mornings both of my little ones started to wake up extremely early and it was a struggle for them to go to sleep of an evening too. I already have black out curtains but the light was seeping into both rooms from around the tops of the curtains and sides. I LOVE my sleep and have been very lucky (and spoilt) with both of my little ones as since birth they too have both loved their sleep and have slept through the night from a few weeks old. So when they both started waking very early and at alternate times too I was almost pulling my hair out in frustration and tiredness and walking around like a zombie with sleep deprivation. I figured it was worth a try to use these blinds and see if they worked and I am so glad that I did as they DO actually work. For the first few nights both of my children both still woke at stupid-o'clock but they were much easier to get to go back to sleep and then after about the fourth night of using the blinds they once again slept through the whole night.
My only niggle with the blackout blind is that it is a bit of a pain to be taking it down and putting it up each night as the suction cups can be a bit of a nuisance to try to get to stick to the window sometimes which then makes it a bit time consuming to put them up and it would be nice in that respect to not to have to use them but the benefit of a full nights sleep far outweighs the hassle of messing around putting them up. The blinds are adjustable with velcro tabs so that you can shorten them to fit your window by sticking the velcro together at intervals which again I think is a really good idea. We recently went away and they were one of the first items on my to pack list for going with us and I am so glad we did as the curtains where we stayed were very thin and had I not used the blinds I am sure we would have been awoken by the children a lot earlier than we were. The blinds come in a handy drawstring carry bag which we have kept to keep them when not in use.
If your little ones are waking early because of the light nights then I would definitely recommend giving the blackout blind a try as it worked wonders for us. I have just managed to pack them away for possibly the winter now that the mornings and nights are a bit darker again but I shall be putting them away where I know they are so that I can use them next summer again.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 1 May 2019I bought these for our bedroom balcony double doors (about 1.2 x 2.1m) and they work really well. I have read that a few people had some issues with suction cups coming loose, but after a few weeks using these, I can say that one suction cup has come loose only once, so I personally am happy with the product. If the blind is too big, it's easy to reduce the width and length by using the velcro spot pads to close the width up a bit. I've used it most nights and it takes literally 60 seconds to put it up and same to take it down. It also feels quite rugged, and not at all flimsy. I just fold it up and put it to one side in the mornings, but it does also come with a handy bag to pack it in if needed. I think the people who are saying that the suction isn't good enough maybe need to just make sure the surfaces are clean, and make sure they've fully pressed the cup onto the glass before they finish installing. One criticism is that, because it is black on both sides, it absorbs a lot of heat from the sun, which can warm the room up quite a lot, even though the light is kept out. They should probably consider making this white, or a white version, which I think would mitigate that issue. Other than that, I highly recommend this product - does exactly what it should.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 30 April 2017I bought this black out blind as i have a health condition and am SUPER sensitive to light. I recently had to travel and stay overnight somewhere and i wasnt sure what the curtains would be like. In the past with other stop overs, I had been taking a piece of black out blind material cut off an old blind and had been taping it up over the window. Then i discovered this portable blind - yay!
It is great and did a decent job BUT its not perfect. I am attaching photos of how the blind looked so you can see.
The place i stayed had really old style windows so i had to sucker the blind to the glass as the suckers were too big to stick to the window surround. This took 10 minutes as the suckers kept falling off.
Because the blind was not pulled tight (as the suckers would only stick to the glass and not the frame) where it was slack, you could see the light coming through. Also the place had really rubbish flimsy curtains so when they were pulled shout, they didn't add an extra layer of cover to block out any light. As a result I still had to wear my eye mask as the sunrise shining through the gaps still woke me up.
I also found that on the first night, I woke at sunrise as half of the blind had fallen off! On the second night I had to use some tape around the edges to ensure it didnt fall off and to help block some of the bigger gaps.
Over all i recommend it as it really helped to have some blockage of light rather than none. I am super sensitive so to someone who isnt, it would probably do the trick Also it depends on the style of window that the blind is being adhered to as well as whether there are decent curtains to add an extra layer of blockage.
I chose this blind over other brands as this was quite a decent size - another brand that i saw advertised wanted more money for a blind this size as it was listed as 'extra large'.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good at first
Worked well at first since we travel a lot and the hotel room windows can be unpredictable. But after a few times, the suction cups lack stick…

5.0 out of 5 stars Muy prácticas y cubren la luz.
En el dormitorio de mi nieta entraba mucha luz ya que tiene mucho ventanal. Estas cortinas han sido una muy buena solución. Recomendable 100%

5.0 out of 5 stars Has been hanging up for several months
We use it in our daughters bedroom and it does exactly what it promised. We take it with us when we go on holidays, because the curtains in a lot of hotels let in the sun.
Fits perfectly in our luggage as well!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best thing I’ve bought!!
Best thing to keep our baby’s room dark during the day (when the day sun hits during naps). I love how it’s portable so you can take it on holidays and it’s possible to make it fit smaller windows (we got the larger size for more use). I walk into my sons room in the bright daylight outside and it’s dark and perfect for him he loves it

5.0 out of 5 stars Rempli parfaitement sa fonction.
Parfait pour les vacances ou autres pour occulter une fenêtre ou même une porte vitrée.
Les ventouses tiennent très bien sur les surfaces vitrées et permettent un ajustement parfait.
