I chose a red Water Filter for the first time, all my others through the years have been white or white with a blue lid, (and no matter how clean you keep them, they do tend to look worn and the scratched white or light coloured plastic can look scruffy around the edges in time) but I have a few main electrical items and some vintage things and old style enamelware in my kitchen in mostly red and other things in blue and white.. so I thought I'd go for a red one this time and hoped it would blend in with the menagerie of things. It does...and the red is a deep strong red, which continues down the handle, it's appearance is lovely, even nicer than I expected.
Performance wise, I cannot fault it so far either... it filters more quickly and efficiently with the large Maxtra filter cartridges that it takes, which I purchased with it. I did not know, but was pleasantly surprised that a cartridge was also supplied in the box with the filter... so I didn't even have to dip into the pack of six cartridges I bought on offer with the filter yet.
One of the differences that I really appreciate about this filter is the separation of the water sections-tanks for want of a better word :)... it is that, unlike my old filters where the tap water would overspill if it hadn't fully finished filtering-and we'd have to press down and hold the lid on or it might fall off... When the top (red section) tank is full and in the process of filtering, with the lid on securely, (which has a secure fitting, which blocks of the unfiltered water) you can still access the clean water in the tank below, without the lid falling off or tap water getting mixed in... so you don't have to wait for the whole thing to be finished filtering to use the water that is already ready. I'm quite a patient person, but when needing water for cooking, drinking or pets water and getting jobs done in a hurry or late at night before bed or such, it's a help not to have to wait every time you refill it, or top it up.
The flip top opening for filling it with the tap water, is better too. It's an oval shape, ample and wide but also stays shut when closed, but effortlessly opens when flipped open to re-fill.... it's a good size, so you don't have to do a balancing act to keep the flow of tap water pouring into a small hole in the lid, or having to take the lid off completely, I found it helpful straight away, and well designed. There is a free hinged lid over the pouring spout as well, to protect from dust, germs, bugs etc, which opens automatically when pouring filtered water.
It is much easier to clean- no integral, slide across lid openings that are hard to fully clean or tiny corners to get into.
I am really happy that I chose this one and so far very happy with both how it filters, it's design and lovely appearance. It was well packaged and protected during transit too, which I am always grateful for, after like many other people I have heard about, having the experience of too many smashed and damaged goods being delivered to me to the years.
At this point in time I highly recommend this Brita water filter, so far I think it's great, and very glad I bought it.
