Good Water Jug
5 out of 5 stars
Good Water Jug
Happy with my BRITA water jug. My main concern drinking water at home was the temperature, often being far too warm. A jug allowed me to chill water in the fridge. The benefits of this jug is that it holds quite a lot of water and with the added benefit of filtering. The jug is very sturdy, the rubber non slip base is very useful. Comfy handle too. Easy to fill as well, by being able to put under a tap without the need to take the top off. The only downside, is that the filters need to be replaced quite often, once a month. I probably wont replace them as often as they suggest,. Worth a buying

Very impressed by this water jug. Purchased it at a reduced price.., about the same as I pqid for a smaller, inferior one but this one is in a whole different class.

Yes, it was probably reduced because of a design flaw.., the tap water could leak out by the handle because the handle is placed lower than the sides of the jug.., but u just have to fill it with 50mls less water.., hardly an enormous effort to overcome.

Unlike my last Brita jug, you don't have to spend minutes trying to fit the filter holder into the jug (no notches to match up or break).., it just slides in as easy as anything. Although I have always used Brita filter jugs, the plastic on this one feels much better quality and longer lasting. It also takes the filters I used before (Maxtra) so no wasteage there.

It stores enough water so I have to refill it about half the times I did. Brilliant, as although I am lucky enough to have a teen to make coffee sometimes, he seems only to be able to make it whilst emptying the jug and leaving it empty. No more delays waiting for the water to filter when I have to make a coffee myself! I would imagine you can get four very large mugs of coffee from the water this jug stores. Ideal for a family.

The thing that no one seems to comment on when you have a water jug.., is that you don't have to keep replacing kettles. Before I started using them, I was lucky if a kettle lasted a year, usually 6 months. They all started leaking from the bottom. It didn't matter if they were cheap or expensive, they all leaked within a space of months. I'm still using the same kettle 2 years later since I started using filter jugs. So it saves me a lot of money.

I have wide door shelving in my fridge so can put the jug on these shelves., but people with a small fridge will have problems with this. But I doubt anyone who needed a large jug like this would have a small fridge.

And the water tastes wonderful. Its sweet and refreshing not tasting of chlorine and metal like the water straight out of the tap in this area often does.

As you can see, I can't say enough about this filter jug and would recommend it to anyone.

This is a good Brita water filter, though I wouldn't go as far as to say it was amazing. It could be improved. (I've been using it for 2 months now).

    Good Points:

    -Pours wonderfully! Very clean.
-Well made, all the pieces fit together well... nice and simple design.
-Electric meter on the lid tells you when the filter needs changing.
-Both jug and filters can be bought very reasonably online/ in stores like Argos.

    And now the Bad:

-Brita promotes the 'Maxtra' filters and the Jug range as being v.superior to other brands, but after doing a taste test with other people, drinking pure water from the new Brita jug and my old Kenwood one I was replacing, I couldn't taste the difference AT ALL. Be aware this jug does not make you bottled mineral water!! The water tastes fine, I was just a little disappointed that it wasn't notably better than my old jug.
-The hole where you fill the jug on the lid is covered my a plastic flap that pushes inwards when you fill it with water. This is supposed to be 'innovative' , but actually it just falls off all the time, and you have to click it back into place. I worry that it will break in the end.
-Also if you have just filled the jug up you have to wait for all the water to filter through before you can pour some into a glass/bottle. As the hole where you fill the water into on the lid is not water tight... hence if the water is still in the upper compartment, it just spills out everywhere.

Overall I think this jug is overhyped! It's all a bit of a fuss! Definitely not worth the RRP of £30...
My advice would be don't just buy because of the brand name!

FOLLOW UP TO REVIEW ... 6 MONTHS AFTER BUYING THIS WATER FILTER (AND IT WORKING FLAWLESSLY) THE ELECTRIC DIGITAL METER DIAL ON THE TOP HAS NOW COMPLETELY BROKEN. It does't work at all - I've tried replacing the battery. So now I have to guess when to change the cartridge (just like the old ones)! Clever idea BRITA - but not a very reliable one yet.

5.0 out of 5 stars Agua sin sabor a cloro :-)
Reviewed in Spain on 13 August 2017

5.0 out of 5 stars Utile pour les machines qui ne supporte pas trop le calcaire
Reviewed in France on 25 July 2017
