Unorthodox Bike-Saddle; Durability is Suspect.

Unorthodox Bike-Saddle; Durability is Suspect.
In the last 2wks I bought a decent Murtisol Spinbike (reviewed on Amazon), but like all economy spinbikes it came with a rock-hard torture-device as a saddle, the standard rod-like leatherette racing-seat. Rather than sit on that ache-implement even once, I promptly replaced it with a Schwinn foam-fitted racing-seat – durable, and as comfortable as such a racing-seat can ever be.Alas, such a racing-seat will always punish the butt of any human daring to repose on it for long while supporting a regular poundage of torso. It's the physics of the thing: even a slender person's limited upper-body weight if forced to act through a fulcrum of a few square-inches of flesh while that fulcrum – the butt pressed unyieldingly against the narrow, slanted walls of the racing-seat – must sustain the steady pedalling exertion of a pair of quads, among the human body's most powerful muscles, WELL, such weight will subject said fulcrum, being flesh, to eventual severe pain… i.e., literal butt-hurt.Schwinn's "Noseless" Comfort Bike Seat to the rescue!I'm on the skinny side, at 5'9" and 140#, but I ride my spinbike hard and long: over 2hrs at a pop, most days of the week, intensely enough to soak shorts, socks and shoes clean through and leave a bath-rug sized puddle of sweat on the hardwood floor an hour into each ride. So trust me, I know from butt-hurt.I counted the days until my Comfort Seat arrived today, then unboxed it with rabid haste and had it installed on the spin-bike with the old racing-seat in hand (photo) lickety split. Installation I can report was a breeze. I've not long now tested it with a robust 70min ride, and I'll gladly testify – This.Seat.Works! No mo' butt-hurt.But… (1) This seat is way unorthodox! It lacks the prow-like "nose" of your standard bike-seat alongside which one's thighs move freely up and down in the act of pedalling. Instead it is akin to a truck's bench-seat, supporting yet unavoidably restricting the underside of the thighs while pedalling occurs. Adjustments must be made, with more to come on my next ride. I suspect everyone's will be slightly different, each person finding what works best for him or her.The seat is a good fit, by no means too small as I've seen many 1-Star reviewers complain. No issue of "ridges" pressing into my butt, leg, or anyplace else. Still, there is the restriction I've mentioned, which is a small penalty to pay for the huge increase in weight-bearing surface area afforded by this seat's design, versus any regular racing-seat.My major adjustment is to tilt the seat so that its front falls down (photo); this eases the restriction of the backs of the thighs while pedalling, and places one's butt and upper-body weight squarely against the wide expanse of this ample bike-seat.And… (2) I fret for the durability of this bike-seat! Its extensive width means it has lateral "wings" where standard racing-seats have, well …nothing. While pedalling I can feel these wings swaying at times, and examining the undercarriage of the seat I see nothing besides rather frail plastic trusses for support; I do not expect these parts to endure many of my demanding rides before they break. In addition, the synthetic material covering the seat while water-resistant is not actually waterproof. After my hour-plus ride with my normal, unavoidable sweating, the seat felt somewhat sodden. I fully anticipate it will soon begin to shred and eventually disintegrate, perhaps becoming unhygienic along the way just by accumulating sweat. My fears may happily prove groundless. Time will tell.

I was so impressed with this seat. My bike already came with a "comfort" seat but I found it narrow and hard. I bought one of the cushioned covers but it still didn't feel good.

Lo and behold that having a seat that actually fits your whole butt on it makes a HUGE difference. This is so comfy without even being that cushiony, it just fits properly and supports all your backside.

Easy to install as well.
