Not bad, but not stable. Even for a small guy
For the price, not a terrible mechanic stool. However... As a full time mechanic, I found this seat to be of good quality but a bit unstable. I'm not a big guy (5'8" ~150lbs) and almost had this thing come out from underneath me several times. This happened in both the highest setting, and the lowest setting. Co-workers had the Torin Big Red stool and it's much more stable. See pictures for comparison, I took various measurements. Below is a list of my personal pro's and cons for the pro lift stool. Pros: Price- Affordable stool Wheels- Has 5 wheels instead of Torin's 4, a plus in my book Tray- Steel tray, no plastic here Cons: UNSTABLE- Holy crap does this thing have a high center of gravity. It's quite easy to lose your balance at ANY height. Also, watch out for cracks in the floor with this one... Seat/Cushion- Not very thick. This one bottoms out, and again I'm not a big guy. It's also smaller in diameter than Torin's. Wheels- Two are starting to loosen after two months of almost daily use. Not a big deal but it has me wondering how long they will last.
