I never knew it felt abused. I had no warning of the distress my mattress cover was experiencing. But today it all became known. It all started when I broke a small bottle of perfume on my bed and I was completely mortified. But gratefulness wafted over me as I suddenly remembered that I have a Luna mattress pad and my mattress is probably fine. I just need to wash everything. Relief. I started to pull off the sheets and the mattress pad to quickly remedy this now overpowering aroma. But what was this? All. Over. My. Bed. The mattress pad's water protectant covering had disintegrated into a million tiny pieces of plasticky awfulness. Mortification struck again as I tried to ball up the offending mattress pad and contain all of the pieces tht kept flying everywhere. Suddenly I remembered the original crisis of the perfume that was threatening to consume my nostrils with its potent odor. My hand found the spot. Sure enough, due to the millions of cracks in the mattress pad waterproof protection that was now littering my floor in a snowlike fashion, the spot was damp. And now my hand stunk of the now awful scent. At the end of myself I called for my husband and since there must have been complete desperation in my voice, he came quickly. He was stunned but he helped me pull the mattress up to a standing position and we proceded to beat the mattress. Snow in a not-frozen fashion filled the room. We stepped on it and pressed it firmly to the ground as we continued to pummel the mattress. In a moment of panic I beat the mattress with my fists to try to at least make the fragments of plastic subside. My husband, assuming the anger that must be the reason for this moment of rage assured me that all would be well. After cleaning the snowstorm from the cracks and crevices and combing it out of my hair, I sit to write this review. Let this be a lesson to us all. This mattress pad only lasted us five years before it wreaked its vengeance upon us. How I wished that when I noticed the slight peeling only a few months ago after washing it that I had replaced it at that time. But alas, it was not to be. Now if only I could sleep and rest my weary head on my bed... that stinks of flowers gone rancid.

    Potty training is exciting but it can also be a disaster, and we had some pretty massive disasters. Your kid is soaked, their bed is soaked, everyone is grumpy and not capable of dealing with a crisis. And I have twins, so if they both had an accident the same night, heaven help us all. Thanks to the Luna Mattress Protector we were able to get through this stage fairly easily, and we all got plenty of sleep so we could still love each other in the morning. A bed wetting nightmare became a 5-10 minute, stress-free process and then everyone was back asleep. Here's how I did it. It wasn't cheap, but you can't put a price on getting enough rest and avoiding the stress of dealing with a middle of the night situation.

    First off, this protector is truly waterproof, as long as you follow the cleaning care instructions. Nothing gets through. So I bought two Luna Mattress Protectors and two inexpensive sets of bedding for each bed. On each mattress I put a Luna Mattress Protector, a fitted sheet, another Luna Mattress Protector, and another fitted sheet, then the top sheet and comforter. On the dresser was the extra top sheet and comforter, an extra pair of PJs and some wipes. In the event of an accident, the top sheet and comforter, along with the first fitted sheet and Luna were removed. I took off the wet PJs, gave a quick wipe down with the wipes, then put the spare sheet and comforter on the bed, put the kid back in bed, and dropped the soiled bedding and PJs in the laundry room before heading back to bed myself. Simple!

    Because of the Luna Mattress Protector being completely waterproof, none of the pee or odor got through the first one, leaving the bottom Luna and fitted sheet perfectly suitable for sleeping. I can't overemphasize the quality or lifesaving capability of the Luna Mattress Protector. It is one of the best purchases I made for dealing with all that fun toddler stage stuff.

    bought one of these six years ago as kids were potty training. Wetting the bed was a fairly common thing at that point and this saved our mattresses. What we actually did was layered on sheets. On the mattress we had a Luna mattress protector, a fitted sheet, another Luna mattress protector, and another fitted sheet. In the event of an accident, the top Luna mattress protector would keep the fitted sheet and Luna mattress protector underneath it dry. The bottom sheet were still dry thanks to the top Luna mattress protector. So we just stripped off the top sheet set, changed the wet kid and gave a quick wipe bath, put on new jammies and a new blanket. Within about 5-10 minutes, the kid was dry and everyone was back in bed.

    This product is not breathable. We bought it to protect our mattress - one of us sweats a lot. It is not a breathable fabric like it suggests. Only enough to let moisture seep in and then fester underneath it. When it is removed for cleaning, you’ll notice the smell of a hockey bag. Terrible product.
