Big roomy tent

Big roomy tent
It's a nice tent for the price if you are looking for a large tent with a porch. I had an issue with a pole shattering on my first outing with it, but the company stands behind the product and in less than a week they had sent me a replacement pole. I did have to so a tent-stake-duck-tape repair, but A+ for customer service. Set up was rather easy by myself the first time out, so that is a plus. I haven't had it in the rain and quite frankly I'm skeptical about it's weather proofing. The design leaves too much door and windows exposed and the rain fly is minimalistic. It is roomy though, and while it should sleep 8, it would be crowed habitation at about 4 people. Heaven forbid 8 people were trapped in side during a rain storm. It's not the best looking tent due to the windows being sort of warped and uneven. From a distance it looks cheap. As far as quality, I didn't have any issues other than the tent pole, but again, it is simplistic or minimalistic in amenities. There are a couple of storage pouches but no power access built in and I had the extension cord running through the door. Zippers were fine. It took a little bit to figure out how to store the window and door flaps since there are no hook & loop attachments for them. You roll them up and tuck them in the bottom of the opening. It works fine. Head space in the main room is excellent. Head space at the door is much less and you have to duck. There really is no reason for the outer door to be so low. The round door was nice and provided easy access between rooms. The tent stakes supplied were inadequate for the location on sandy soil and would not hold. Thankfully I had more substantial stakes at hand. I'll be using it more and may come to love it, but I have mixed emotions at present about it. Would I buy it again? Probably: It's a big, roomy tent that is easy to set up and works great in good weather. Edit#1 After spending some time in the tent I think a little better of it. It seems to be fairly well made and reinforced at the stress points. It's holding up well in windy conditions for the most part. The stock tent stakes did pull up in the wind but were replaced by longer ones which have held fine.

Our first use of this tent was for a week long stay at a Lake. It's just small enough for most standard size tent pads, but you'll most likely go outside your tent pad with the tie outs, unless it's a larger tent pad. Most people say there's a "ripple" on the side of their tents after staking, but I didn't have that issue. Once I got all points staked and tied nice n tight, everything stayed up nicely n looked great. Setup was easy for the most part, especially with more than one person. Between the winds off the lake daily, and the heavy storm in the middle of the week I was a bit worried about the durability but everything held up perfectly. Overall the interior has plenty of space for most small families, air mattresses included. There were three of us, 2 adults and 1 child(10yrs old), plus one medium sized dog(Foxhound). We had a Queen Size and a Twin Size Air Matress in the "Cabin" of the Tent, 2 to 3 larger size folding Camp Chairs, 1 smaller size folding Camp Chair, and a small area for the Dog, along with a couple Storage Totes in the "Porch" of the Tent. The floor of the Tent is a "Bathtub" style floor and is made of a Tarp-like material so it's both durable and keeps water out. The one thing I'm not completely satisfied with is the shape of the floorplan. It's not completely square in the Cabin and the Cabin is slightly larger than the Porch. Combining that with the fact the the majority of the tie downs are attached directly to the bottom of the Tent makes it so putting down a Tarp to make the floor more durable is kinda tricky. My best solution for this is to get 2 tarps sized almost exact to the 2 sections of the tent. Sorry for the long winded review but hopefully it helps.

    Color: BlueStyle: TentVerified Purchase
Did not have time to setup/test-out prior to first camping trip. So first time took 30 mins with 2 ppl to setup in light drizzle. Did not come with instructions and although it's pretty obvious how it fits together, the optimal sequence isn't as obvious (I included the steps that worked for me in the bottom of review).

Minutes after getting the tent up, we had a 1 hr downpour with 20 mph winds followed by light drizzle all night. The tent looked strong & steady with just a few minor leaks around zipper, but all the seams were dry. Water did pool over the porch room (as others have also said) and began slowly leaking in, but I believe that's because I didn't fully secure the tarp down properly (see step 16 below). Haven't experience rain after we properly secured the tarp, but the tarp did look much more taut.

Overall, very happy with size, rain & wind protection. I liked that the circular room divider door completely protects the sleeping area from mesquites while coming in and out of the porch area all day and the dual zipper allows you to zip the bottom up so toddlers and pets can't escape and creepy crawlies can't crawl in to the sleeping area while allowing adults to easily step over for easy access to all rooms. It's also wide enough to fit an inflated queen size air mattress through.

Rear sleeping compartment easily fits 2 queen size airbeds with about 1-1/2ft clearance at top and bottom of mattresses for your bags. Porch room is decent size for 2 chairs with room to put your feet up and still have an unobstructed center aisle to walk through. The included stakes are crappy and I'm convinced would of pulled-out during our first stormy night so buy some good ones (need 20). I got the 7" spikes with the green tie down heads - very secure in grass and not overly difficult to pull out (Harbor Freight sells a packet of 6 spikes for $3).

These steps seem to work best for me:
    1. Assemble poles.
    2. Temporarily stake down 11'x16' ground tarp (sold separately - got mine at Harbor freight... good quality)
    3. Unroll tent
    4. Stake back 2 corners first, then back-middle.
    5. Pull front taunt and center, then stake front 2 corners, then front-middle (i.e. entrance).
    6. Now fold and tuck the ground cover tarp complete under the tent along the smaller front room section so rain doesn't collect under your tent (I may cut my tarp to size in the future).
    7. Stake one side of the back room, then the other side.
    8. Stake one side of the front room, then the other side.
    9. Thread the 2 long thin poles through the back-room sleeves and secure the 2 poles together directly in their middles using a bowknot (the tricky part is keeping the bowknot directly in the middle of the thin poles when you mount them on the thick support poles).
    10. Thread the shorter thin pole over the entrance.
    11. Lay the thicker support poles near their mounting pin locations and mount the angled pole connector.
    12. Have someone tall climb inside the tent and hold up the center where the 2 thin poles cross.
    13. Quickly connect the 4 poles in the back room before installing the 2 poles in the front room. Install to top thin pole then tuck over the pin on the bottom.
    14. Have someone help you pull the tarp over the tent.
    15. Stake the guidelines in the back down first then the front, but keep them loose.
    16. At each pole location, (a) hook the tarp in, (b) strap the Velcro around the pole and then (c) tie bowtie through the slotted opening on the black angled pole connector. Note, there's a Velcro strap over the center of the door (the first night, I was in a hurry to beat the rain and didn't see/do steps b & c and water pooled over the porch room and slowly soaked/dripped through).
    17. Finally, evenly tighten the 5 guide wires.
    18. Double check the stakes to ensure they didn't get pulled up.

I live in Utah with my wife. When we started looking for a tent, there were a few critical criteria:

    - Had to fit a double-high queen mattress (we like our sleep)
    - Had to have a mesh roof for star gazing
    - Had to have a gathering area for people to hang out in the event of rain

This tent totally fit the bill and we were able to test all the capabilities on our last trip. We camped at Butterfly Lake at 10,400 feet in the Uintas on a weekend expecting rain. As has been procedure every time I used this tent, I first A) layed a tarp down as the tents footprint to help extend the life of the tent floor and B) tied the tent down using the included ropes (mine were initially attached to the rain fly). If you buy this tent, you ABSOLUTELY have to tie it down each and every time you use it. Gentle winds can cause it to cave in if you don't... I know this for a fact. If you have two people, set up will take 15 minutes if you're slow. If you're by yourself (not recommended. Why would you be using this tent, anyway?) it'll take you half an hour because the thing will keep caving in on you.

Anyway, since we were expecting rain, I also took the initiative and added the rain fly for the first time. It was frighteningly easy... I really thought that I'd done something wrong. Velcro, hooks and a few choice tie-downs are used to attach the fly either directly to the metal frame or to obvious locations on the tent itself. Total time? Maybe 2 minutes between me and my wife.

WATER PROOF? Mine was. I had treated the floor seams of the tent several weeks earlier but didn't do anything special to the floor or walls themselves. Regardless, the tent stayed dry through 3 straight days of nearly-constant rain. We ended up fitting 6 adults, a card table and a cooler for beer into the front room comfortably and were complimented by all on the awesomeness of our tent. Additional drinks were located in the "sleeping quarters". Even with a double-high queen mattress, there was ample room for anything else we wanted to keep dry.

THIS IS A HUGE TENT! It may not fit all campsites. It certainly wouldn't fit the standard sites at Mirror Lake. Also, since it's so huge, you're likely to get water pooling under the tent. None of it actually got into the tent, amazingly enough, but it made for a mess when we broke the tent down. The huge-ness had an important side effect: all the dirt tended to stay in the front room so our bedroom stayed clean. That, in turn, kept the bed clean which made sleeping that much more enjoyable.

BIG TENT, SMALL PACKAGE. It may be huge but it is surprisingly light and fits into a small package. I wouldn't recommend back country camping with it, of course, but you don't have to worry about getting tired lugging the bag around if need be. Incidentally, I do have a little difficulty getting the tent into the package but mostly because of my rolling techniques... if done correctly every time, it'll be snug but not too snug.

I'd highly recommend this to anyone that enjoys the wilderness but requires a good night's sleep. Excellent for families and party campers alike!

I was a bit nervous about this tent before buying it, but WOW, it's so roomy and value for money is crazy. I'm not going to sit here and say it's the best quality. A $600 Coleman is going to have a better fly, better zippers, and better quality fabric. However, for $280 you get a sleeping section that will easily fit a queen size air mattress with tons of extra room, as well as a large porch that you can use as a kitchen if it's raining. Putting together was pretty simple as well, and though I'm not sure how well the joint connectors will last, so far so good! Literally, buy this tent, you will NOT be disappointed!

    暖かくなったら3人の子どもたちとキャンプに行きたいと思い、大型テントを探していました。寒いのはともかく、暑いのはどーにもならんので、通気性の良さそうなモノを・・・。そしてヨメさんにもウケるように、見た目のファニーなモノを・・・。ということで、これにしました。

    写真は初張りのときのものです。お恥ずかしながらタイトに張れておりませんが、そもそもそれほどビシッとなるテントでもなさそうです。

    設営は、小2の娘に手伝ってもらって20分ぐらいでした。設営方法はシンプルですが、とにかく背が高いので、1人だと大変かと思います。まぁファミリーキャンプ用なので、子どもとワイワイやりながら立てるには、ちょうどいい感じかと。

    <良い点>
    ・とにかくデカい。窮屈さゼロ。そして、立って歩けるのも素晴らしい。
    ・フライなしにすれば、夜空を見ながら寝れる。(夏キャンプのお楽しみ!)
    ・見た目が山小屋みたいで、可愛らしい。
    ・まず人とカブることはなさそう。

    <気になった点>
    ・メッシュの一部やチャックの縫製部分に、少しお粗末なところがあった。個人的には笑って済ませられるレベルだったが、気になる人は気になると思う。
    ・フライシートを天井にかぶせていても、風が強いと中に少し風が入ってくる。1月下旬に初張りしたときに、中で食事していたら、少し風を感じました。あくまで夏用として買ったので、これも「風通し最高!」と笑って済ませました(笑)。
    ・デカいので、サイトによっては区画内に入りきらないかも。要確認。

    結論として、我が家では買って良かったです。子どもたちもヨメさんも喜んでくれました。布が大きいので、仕舞うのが大変かと心配しましたが、これも娘とやって15分かかりませんでした。張り具合や細部など、タイトさやシビアさを求めてはいけないテントですが、家族向けには色々と都合がいいと思います。このルックスなので、みんなで協力しながら別荘を立てるような気持ちになれます(笑)。広々とした室内で、色んなことをして遊ぼうと思います!
