We have lights like this scattered all over our home, upstairs and main level, to provide motion-activated light when it is dark. If we need to go the the bathroom, or make a check of door locks before retiring to bed, these LED lights come on as we enter various parts of the house, and then turn off shortly afterwards, without any need to activate the major lights. We have about eight lights of this kind. Only 1 of the eight has malfunctioned, by losing some of its motion sensitivity. I like them enough that I purchased the same kind of GE replacement. These lights are brighter than some night lights I've had, but I like that, and find them very helpful.

I own the non-motion detector version of this night light and love it. When looking for one that was motion activated, I was thrilled to find GE made one and ordered four. For this review, I am comparing this one to the non-motion detector one because it lacks some of the qualities I loved.
1. The color is not quite bronze. It's much lighter so if you have traditional oil-rubbed bronze fixtures, it will not match.
2. The LED lights can be seen, very brightly, through the design. Rather than the light being diffused by the cover plate, it is a pinpoint, intense light that can be distracting if viewed directly in the dark.
3. When plugging in, the size and design will always leave part of the outlet cover exposed. One of the benefits of the non-motion detector version is it would completely cover the plate, if I desired (it can be turned around to expose the second outlet). My OCD hates that a little of the white outlet cover shows.
Other than those issues, I love this light. It serves its purpose which is to turn on upon approach, and turn off a minute after no activity is detected - perfect for lighting a bathroom in the middle of the night without remaining on to disturb your sleep.

I’ve been using this for months. It comes on only when motion is detected AND it’s dark, so if it doesn’t detect our motion before we turn on the light entering the bathroom, we can leave it plugged in all the time.

When we enter after bedtime and don’t want the usual bright light to wake us, we just let this light illuminate our path. It’s just enough that we need.

I haven’t had issues noticing any pinpoint light, and it seems to work fine to cover or expose the other outlet.

This motion-activated nightlight is very effective. It consistently recognizes movement and turns off in a reasonable amount of time. It is attractive both lit and unlit. (See pictures.)

However, to make this a 4* or 5* product, there are needed improvements:

(1) More sensitivity to light/dark. It frequently illuminates with motion during daylight hours on over-cast days or during evenings when all lights are on. When the daylight is bright, it doesn't go on.
(2) More diffusion of light. The LED light is severe, and the cover is clear. I would have preferred something opaque. When the light hits you in the eyes ... and it can & it does ... it's not pleasant. It's also too bright for a night light.

Regardless, I'm happy to have discovered this & am glad to own it. But I'm also glad I only purchased one, not several as I had planned.

I also have another GE LED light-sensing light that is not motion-activated, and it casts a more diffuse light at night, although still bright. It's the GE LED CoverLite: GE Oil Rubbed Bronze Sun LED CoverLite(TM). Forced to choose all over again, I'd pick the CoverLite over this one.

Complaints about the LED light hitting you right in the EYE are valid, but easily fixed! The unit comes apart and I simply painted the upper half of the clear casing.
