- Reviewed in the United States on June 28, 2018The illustrations are well drawn, and there is somewhat a resemblance to the First Lady shown. They are a nice size, and easy to color. My only complaint is the fact the pictures are on both sides of the page--so there is a concern about bleed through. I had to be very careful with what medium I used to try to prevent that problem.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 25, 2015I use mostly colored pencils and am enjoying coloring in this book. The simplicity is nice with just the clothed figure and no background. The artist has portrayed the clothing well and the description indicates the kind of fabric and sometimes the color combination--of course you can use your own color scheme too. Some colored pictures on the front and back covers show how the fashions really looked.
- Reviewed in the United States on February 10, 2023As others have stated most of the faces are the same-for the most part, young and pretty. Many if these women were middle aged when serving as First Ladies, and to be honest, some were famously unattractive. I wonder why the publisher bothered to include the historic info, when the artist didn't take the time to look up the ladies and portray them accurately.
On the plus side, I did enjoy coloring most of the dresses, especially the old fashioned ones.
I was also disappointed in the dress chosen for Jackie Kennedy. She was a fashion icon, and this casual outfit didn't do her justice.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 17, 2014This book is great! The pictures are beautiful; and there are interesting comments about the first ladies on each page. The paper is very high quality; and takes crayons and colored pencils very well. I will definitely buy more Dover Coloring Books.
- Reviewed in the United States on August 25, 2015I bought several coloring books, and although I have not colored in any others, I colored 2-3 pages in a very short time. That may because my favorite time period is of the civil war. I found it very relaxing and enjoyable. It has quickly made it to being in my favorite.

A very cool book, I am starting to purchase some historical colouring inn books. This one is quite interesting going back to the very First Lady, to the current. It gives some historical facts on the wives of the presidents, and the pictures are really good. The pictures are on both pages, which means that paints may not be very good to use or ink. I have used my polychromos, inktense and others and it works well. Great book to have and when finished can go into the bookshelf as 'historical'. Thank you so much

3.0 out of 5 stars moyen
