I studied dog doors for quite some time since it seems it's easy to get off on the wrong foot. My female Doberman is huge for a lady dobie. She'll be a year old next month and she 27 1/2 inches at the withers and weighed in at the vet's office today at 87 pounds. Obviously, I needed a very large dog door that could also stand up to puppy activity--giant puppy activity. I'm an elderly female with arthritic hands, so I hired a handy man to install the door. It took him about an hour to install through a metal door with wood interior. It looks great. Neat and tidy. I do notice that the flap doesn't always latch perfectly, as noted by some other reviewers, by the space is very small and you can walk by and fix it with little trouble. The flap is quite heavy, so I'm surprised that anyone is having wind problems. I'll update when we have our next gusty storm.
Now, about the dog training part. My dobie is bright and cooperative, but she was having no part of going through that door. She is not food motivated as a general matter, and certainly not when I'm asking her to walk through doors. She's trained to stay behind two foot high child-type gates that are simply leaned across the door opening, so maybe it's a "barrier means no" issue.
Anyway, when we both grew tired and frustrated, I bit the bullet, told her to stay outside if she wanted and, yes, this little old lady crawled right through the dog door. Needless to say, my dobie was shocked and did her crazy dance which ended.....(yes!!), with her jumping right through her new door. We practiced that a few more times, and she's got it, we just need to make it second nature (if my knees hold up). So...I can now highly recommend this dog door not only for the dog, but also as a great senior workout experience. I may stop using the human door myself.

Works perfectly in a sash window too! Pallet wood for outside frame, a layer of insulation, and old vinyl floor boards for inside frame. I used outdoor caulk for weather proofing. No need to cut holes in doors :) my 120 lb german shepherd walks right through it, no problem. Be sure to measure your pets shoulder height to the floor for a comfortable entry/exit. They can bow their heads but shouldn't have to bend their knees. I also built an outdoor stair flush to the windowsill so when he goes through the window he doesn't trip over a ledge he can't see. (He fell out of the window the first go round, and only special treats made him come back to try it again! ) the magnet holding the flap is super strong, so whether he goes out slowly or barrels through chasing the puppy, the flap always closes. The flap is really sturdy as well, and my indoor cat, though curious, is not interested in pushing a large, heavy flap with her head to go out into the unknown! This door has been a gas saver too! Now i don't have to drive 30 minutes home from work at lunch time to let the dogs in from the southern summer heat or out to use the bathroom when they need to go. With patience, treats, attention to comfort and a confident voice my boys have adjusted to using the window/door in a matter of days. Excellent/versatile product!

Bought the Super Large Door 6 months ago at a discounted price through the Warehouse Deals. The door arrived in perfect condition, wouldn't hesitate to order through them again. This door was bought to allow my foster dogs 24hr access to their outdoor fenced in run. It has done an amazing job and has held up wonderfully to several litters of puppies, including a litter of 12 large breed pups. Also did well through the cold winter months, kept the cold air out while still allowing the dogs to come inside and go outside. It is high quality, durable, and easy to clean. Installation was easy and straight forward. The only thing that could be improved would be a stronger magnet strip at the bottom for the large door, when I first got it the door would blow open if we had a very strong wind. However after adding a few magnet squares to the strip, I am happy to say it no longer comes open by itself. Overall, this door is excellent quality for the price and has served my purpose well. Highly recommend this product!

Easy install. The previous homeowners had a dog door for their smaller dogs and we needed one big enough for our great dane. The super-large size works great for our 120+ pound 10 month old dane with some room to grow. Me and my 250 lb 6'3" husband have both had to climb through the door when we were locked out of the house. That brings me to the less than 5 star rating because you can easily push the locking door out of place from the outside. I mean it would take an insane person to dare enter a giant dog door and risk the being greeted by a dog that requires such a large door. I put a chair in front of the door at night for me to keep my sanity. Also, the door cover seems to be quite a bit flimsy compared to the smaller one we uninstalled. It's flexibility makes it easier to unlatch and such. The dane and cat love using it so we are pleased.
