Perfect as a Dish or Hand Washing Station

Perfect as a Dish or Hand Washing Station
This is by far my favorite camping addition this year. Each year I try to find items that will improve my camping experience. Last year we went to Mammoth Lakes (Twin Lakes) the campground did not have a dish washing station. I have since learned that this happens at many campsites. Often times you are required to wash your dishes at your site- we were not prepared for this so it made dish washing very difficult. At the same time I also realized we spend a lot time walking to restrooms to wash hands. As I started to plan this year's trip I knew finding a solution for this was a priority. I found an idea on Pinterest which utilized a bucket with a spigot for dish/hand washing. I decided I would modify this camping hack to suit my needs. As always storage is an issue for me so I first started searching for a collapsible water carrier. I soon realized that a good one is hard to find so I decided to go with this hard durable plastic carrier by Coleman. To create my washing station I purchased: Coleman Water Carrier, InterDesign Self-Adhesive Towel Grabber, A folding paper towel holder, heavy duty velcro and Camco 42973 Rectangular Collapsible Wash Bucket. The towel grabbers come with a strong adhesive that stick directly to the jug. I placed one on each side to hold dish towels. I purchased a folding paper towel holder from my dollar store to hold the paper towels (check your dollar store or you can order something like... Good Cook Deluxe Paper Towel Holder- make sure you get one that folds flat when empty.. this will make it easier to store) I secured the towel holder to the top of water carrier with heavy duty velcro (you can try VELCRO - Industrial Strength - Extreme - 4" x 1" Strips- You could also try to find a towel holder that comes with permanent adhesive - I used velcro because I wanted to be able to remove mine) I then paired it with Camco 42973 Rectangular Collapsible Wash Bucket (the hack on pinterest used a 5 gallon bucket but space is an issue for me so I needed something sturdy that would collapse for storage and this was perfect). This was the perfect combination of everything I needed for my washing station. While at the campsite I found that I needed a place to keep my dish scrubber. So I placed the sponge inside a quart size ziploc bag and secured it to one of the Towel Grabbers. The Camco collapsible wash bucket served many purposes. It caught all the water so the campsite did not get muddy, I could then use that water to turn off the campfire each night. You can also use this bucket to wash, carry or dry your dishes in. Here is a picture of my camping hack. I hope this helps someone! **UPDATE** Just returned from a camping trip and I tested out two new additions to my water carrier. I added a scrub holder (InterDesign Kitchen Sink Suction Holder for Sponges, Scrubbers, Soap) which I attached with velcro to the side and also new towel grabs Spectrum Adhesive Towel Grabber Set of 2 Hooks) I still haven't decided which towel grabs I prefer so for now they are both stuck on there. But I absolutely love my sponge holder! Unfortunately the spigot broke on the carrier - which I have since learned is a problem for many. For now I won't knock off any starts since I am not sure how it broke (user abuse or manufacturing defect) I will purchase a replacement spigot and if it happens again then I will update this review. My advice if you are going camping (especially a long trip) purchase a replacement spigot just in case, because without the spigot the whole container is useless and we could not find a hack that would fix it so we spent a day without the proper use of the water station and it was torture! Next time I will have a spare on hand.
