Let me start by confirming what other reviewers are saying: There are bits of plastic shards in the jug. More accurately there are some jugs with shards because some didn't have shards. I've purchased 4 of these. I first bought 2 to check them out then I bought 2 more after I decided I liked them a lot.
I read on several links that the average water need per person is 1 gallon/day, depending on your environment and the season, etc. 1/2 gallon is for drinking and 1/2 for cleaning etc. So basically, my use for these jugs is the water for cleaning etc.
For drinking, I've bought cases of the 2.5 Gallon name brand drinking water each case has 2 x 2.5 Gallon jugs, so 5 Gallons per case. They are filled in more sterile environment than I can fill them. They have expiration dates. They are highly stackable. If bugging out, each 2.5 Gallon jugs are easier for the wife and kids to carry, if needed.
Going back to these Coleman Jugs. They are sturdy. I wouldn't let a 400lb gorilla jump on them but they are sturdy if you're not abusive with your water jug. When completely filled they are heavy, but the jug handles are holding up well and feels very sturdy.
The filled containers also felt sturdy.
The ultimate litmus test: I've had these jugs (filled to brim with water) for about 3 weeks in my storage shed and not a single drop dripped out, so it's so far so good.
The plastic is very durable and sturdy, and the spout is easy to use. There is a rubber gasket on the inside of the faucet to prevent leaks. The design of these jugs are very well done, as the handle makes it easy to stand the jug upright when refilling with water and storing. There is an air inlet vent at the top with a cap on it so that when you are getting water air can flow into the top so that the water can come out.
It's nice to have these set up at camp. I will set one up at the edge of a table and it's perfect to use for everything from rinsing hands to filling water bottles. The spigot is nice because you can control how fast the water comes out, so if I'm just doing a rinse I'll only open the spigot partially, and when I want to get a lot of water out I'll open it fully and also open the air inlet at the top.
As I started to plan this year's trip I knew finding a solution for this was a priority. I found an idea on Pinterest which utilized a bucket with a spigot for dish/hand washing. I decided I would modify this camping hack to suit my needs. As always storage is an issue for me so I first started searching for a collapsible water carrier. I soon realized that a good one is hard to find so I decided to go with this hard durable plastic carrier by Coleman.
To create my washing station I purchased: Coleman Water Carrier, InterDesign Self-Adhesive Towel Grabber, A folding paper towel holder, heavy duty velcro and Camco 42973 Rectangular Collapsible Wash Bucket. The towel grabbers come with a strong adhesive that stick directly to the jug. I placed one on each side to hold dish towels. I purchased a folding paper towel holder from my dollar store to hold the paper towels (check your dollar store or you can order something like... Good Cook Deluxe Paper Towel Holder- make sure you get one that folds flat when empty.. this will make it easier to store) I secured the towel holder to the top of water carrier with heavy duty velcro (you can try VELCRO - Industrial Strength - Extreme - 4" x 1" Strips- You could also try to find a towel holder that comes with permanent adhesive - I used velcro because I wanted to be able to remove mine) I then paired it with Camco 42973 Rectangular Collapsible Wash Bucket (the hack on pinterest used a 5 gallon bucket but space is an issue for me so I needed something sturdy that would collapse for storage and this was perfect). This was the perfect combination of everything I needed for my washing station. While at the campsite I found that I needed a place to keep my dish scrubber. So I placed the sponge inside a quart size ziploc bag and secured it to one of the Towel Grabbers. The Camco collapsible wash bucket served many purposes. It caught all the water so the campsite did not get muddy, I could then use that water to turn off the campfire each night. You can also use this bucket to wash, carry or dry your dishes in. Here is a picture of my camping hack. I hope this helps someone! **UPDATE** Just returned from a camping trip and I tested out two new additions to my water carrier. I added a scrub holder (InterDesign Kitchen Sink Suction Holder for Sponges, Scrubbers, Soap) which I attached with velcro to the side and also new towel grabs Spectrum Adhesive Towel Grabber Set of 2 Hooks) I still haven't decided which towel grabs I prefer so for now they are both stuck on there. But I absolutely love my sponge holder! Unfortunately the spigot broke on the carrier - which I have since learned is a problem for many. For now I won't knock off any starts since I am not sure how it broke (user abuse or manufacturing defect) I will purchase a replacement spigot and if it happens again then I will update this review. My advice if you are going camping (especially a long trip) purchase a replacement spigot just in case, because without the spigot the whole container is useless and we could not find a hack that would fix it so we spent a day without the proper use of the water station and it was torture! Next time I will have a spare on hand.

It measures 10"x10" and is 12" tall, making it ideal to carry in a car while travelling. I would definitely recommend this product.
